Our U23’s got off to the perfect start to 2022/23 after beating Welling United 2-1 at Hayes Lane on Friday night.
The young Ravens, who have seen a handful become First Year Pro’s in the summer including goal machine Soul Kader who penned a deal last week, narrowly missed out on the league title last season.
Hoping to go one better this time round, they couldn’t have wished for a better start.
Friday’s squad, which included Marcus Sablier, Jude Arthurs and new arrivals Matt Boylan and Zak Bradshaw, took the lead in the first half through Tunji Obembe.
The midfielder was joined on the score-sheet by fellow First Year Pro, Finlay Lovatt, who doubled their lead in the second 45 after a fantastic assist by Ben Krauhaus.
The Ravens had a third controversially ruled out for offside before the visitors pulled one back from the spot in the latter stages.
Lucas Gatti’s side held on though as attentions now turn to Friday night’s trip to Chippenham Town, who lost 1-0 away to Abbey Rangers in their season opener on Saturday.
The U23’s are then back at Hayes Lane on Friday 26th August as they host Maidstone United Reserves in another local clash.
