Bromley were knocked out of the FA Cup at the fourth qualifying round stage after a shock 1-2 home defeat to National League North side Hereford.
The first chance of the game came when Michael Cheek won possession off the Hereford defence, but the Bromley number nine could only shoot straight Dale Eve.
Three minutes later, a Chris Bush long throw was met by the head of Omar Sowunmi who glanced an effort just wide of the far post.
Hereford struggled to play the ball out from the back as Ethan Coleman intercepted before setting up Adam Marriott. He played in Louis Dennis who squared for Cheek but a last-ditch challenge from Hereford skipper Jared Hodgkiss rebounded off the striker and on to the crossbar.
Emergency stand-in keeper, Eve, was struggling with the ball at his feet. Marriott latched on to a loose touch from the Hereford ‘keeper, but at an already tight angle, he couldn’t provide the finish.
Against the run of play
The first chance for Hereford came when Tyrone Barnett played a long ball out to the left which was followed up with a good through ball to Ryan Mclean who struck his shot high and wide.
Hereford took the lead eight minutes into the second half through a Harry Pinchard free kick. The midfielder curled the ball over the wall away from Tom Smith into the bottom corner.
Despite Bromley’s first half dominance they were yet to have anything to show for it and almost found themselves two down. A long ball was met by the head of Barnett who flicked his header onto McLean, who tried to lob Smith but saw his effort land on the roof of the net.
Back on terms
Bromley levelled proceedings with about 15 minutes to go. Sowunmi played a long diagonal ball over to the left flank. A one-two between sub-Corey Whitely and Cheek meant the former had time and space to curl an effort into the far bottom right corner.
Less than a minute later another Bromley sub was involved in attacking action, as academy graduate Lateef Adaja was clear through on goal and only had the keeper to beat but shot straight at the feet of Eve.
In the second minute of added time Hereford snatched a winner. A corner wasn’t cleared and a strike from the edge of the box was rebounded out to McLean who headed back across goal, and centre half Orren Pendley tapped home.
Bromley crash out of the FA Cup whilst Hereford progress to the FA Cup first round proper.
