Goals from Scott Quigley and Paul McCallum sealed a 2-0 win for Eastleigh at the Silverlake on Saturday as the Ravens hoped to return to winning ways.

It proved to be a fairly quiet first 45, but the Ravens did have a chance to open the scoring on three minutes When Corey Whitely fizzed a ball across goal, aiming for Louis Dennis, but the ball eventually came back out to Bes Topalloj. The wing-back, who bagged his first of the season on Tuesday night, struck low and hard, but his effort was blocked.

Neither side really came close to breaking the dead-lock during the following half hour. However, on 38 minutes, Alex Kirk tried his luck from the edge of the box, but his shot deflected high and eventually into the gloves of Joe McDonnell.

The best chance of the first half fell in the way of the hosts. Moments before the referee blew for half-time, Spitfires skipper Jake Taylor struck from just outside the area. His effort proved difficult for Grant Smith to deal with, but McCallum couldn’t convert the rebound and the half ended goalless.

Just moments into the second half, Dennis and Whitely combined again with the latter latching onto his team-mate’s flick-on before attempting to slot past McDonnell. However, the Spitfires ‘keeper came out on top.

Up the other end and McCallum saw a header saved by Smith before the Bromley shot-stopper was called into action again, this time saving Quigley’s effort from the edge of the box.

The Eastleigh number 20 did eventually grab his goal just past the hour mark, striking low and hard, beating Smith in the Bromley net.

On the 78th minute mark, the hosts sealed victory. A cross in from the right landed on the head of McCallum to nod home Eastleigh’s second.

The Ravens pushed for a goal back in the latter stages, but that proved to be that as attentions turn to Saturday’s visit of Halifax Town. Tickets are on sale by clicking here.
