AFC Wimbledon 0 – 7 Bromley Blues

  • Academy

Bromley Blues eased their way into the next round of the FCYA League Cup with this convincing win. The Blues started on the front foot with Victor Naranjo heading just over from Kelvin Ogboe’s corner early on.

Striker Daniel Ajakayie continued his impressive start to the season when he put Bromley 1-0 up on just 5 minutes when he cut in from the left and smashed home a left footed strike. Shamal Edwards, Ethan Frederick and Kelvin Ogboe then all went close but frustratingly couldn’t find that 2nd goal which eventually came in the 33rd minute when Frederick’s through ball found Ogboe who produced a superb finish, lobbing the keeper from distance. Just before the break Bromley added another when Edwards combined with Joel Vian whose square ball found Ajakayie who slotted home his second and send Bromley in 3-0 up at half time.

The second half started a bit slow and on 55 and 56 minutes there were a couple of rare AFC attacks first when a cross flashed across the Bromley area and then a free kick from distance that hit the Bromley bar. The final 20 minutes saw the Blues turn the screw again though starting in the 71st minute with Vian’s strike from inside the box. The AFC keeper done well to keep the scoreline getting any worse for them but on 83 minutes it was 5-0 when Vian crashed home his second from substitute Nathaniel Williams cross. On 89 minutes Ogboe’s strike was tipped onto the bar but centre back Oscar Kotting-McMillan was on hand to head the ball home from close range on the rebound. In the final minute Kotting-McMillan scored his second when a short corner routine led to a Joel Vian cross and Kotting-McMillan rose to direct a great header into the corner. 7-0 to the Blues and into the hat for the next round along with our other academy side the Bromley Whites who got a bye through this stage.
