Bromley Whites 4-2 Thamesmead Town

  • Academy

Bromley Whites hosted Thamesmead Greens in their 3rd fixture of the season and continued their unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory.

It was Thamesmead who took the lead however on the 13th minute, a short corner caught the Whites off guard and the cross was eventually swung in and headed home by an unmarked player 0-1 Thamesmead.

The Whites responded well though and Fidan Fejzi, who made his 1st team debut the night before in the Kent Senior Cup vs Dover, hit the crossbar with a curling effort in the 14th minute. As Bromley continued to apply pressure Jason Wyatt combined well with Fidan on the left hand side and Jason’s shot across goal narrowly missed past the far post.

Bromley finally broke through on 32 minutes, a long clearance from goalkeeper Roland Higyed was flicked on by Trey Small, with Alex Thomas running on to the flick on and calmly slotting past the Thamesmead keeper for his first goal on his first start for the Whites. 1-1 at halftime.

It didn’t take the Whites long to take the lead after half time, on 46 minutes Fidan Fejzi and Harry Adams doubled teamed a Thamesmead player in side his own half, Fidan came away with the ball and passed inside to Trey Small who struck a fantastic effort in to the top left hand corner from 25 yards out, his 5th goal of the season. 2-1 Bromley.

On 50 minutes Bromley extended the lead to 3-1. Fidan Fejzi jinked past 2 players before being tripped in the penalty area, penalty to Bromley! Harry Adams stepped up and confidently smashed the ball in to the back of the net. 3-1 Bromley.

Bromley continued to dominate and looked very comfortable. On 52 minutes Alex Thomas found himself 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper but unfortunately on this occasion the keeper made a good save.

On 60 minutes a clearance from the Thamesmead defence should have been dealt with by the Bromley centre halves, however Jesse McKenzie misjudged the header allowing the ball to bounce and Ted Scanlon failed to clear, resulting in the Thamesmead forward lobbing the Bromley goalkeeper from 20 yards out. 3-2 and Thamesmead were back in the game.

On 75 minutes Bromley were awarded a free kick around 40 yards out. Harry Adams stepped up and surprised everyone with brilliant strike which cannoned off the post, very unlucky. Bromley continued to dominate and create chances but weren’t clinical enough.

The Whites finally regained their 2 goal lead in the 78th minute. Ersan Cindrak played a great through ball to Maxwell Akwasi who split the defence and finished very well across the goalkeeper in to the bottom left hand corner. 4-2 Bromley.

Despite creating more chances towards the end of the game the Whites couldn’t add to the 4 goals they had already scored and the game finished 4-2. 2 wins and a draw from the first 3 games for the Whites who sit joint top of their league. A very tough away fixture at Fulham is up next for the young Whites team.

Man of the Match: Trey Small
Goals: A.Thomas, T.Small, H.Adams, M.Akwasi
