Our U18s will be targeting yet another historic win tomorrow as they travel to The County Ground to take on Swindon Town in the FA Youth Cup. We take a look back at how Bromley have reached the 3rd round stage of the competition…

2nd Round Qualifying

Four wins have got the young Ravens to this stage, first up was a home tie against Faversham Town back in October.

Having gone a goal down in the first half, a superb reaction in the second half brought with it three goals. Goal scorers on the night were Krauhaus, Smith and Jackson. The 3-1 victory earned progression to the 3rd qualifying round of the competition.

3rd Round Qualifying

An away trip to Grosvenor Vale to take on Wealdstone was up next. A resounding 6-0 win followed, a true reward for a professional performance on the night.

The impressive victory was topped off by a well-worked corner routine, finished by Liam Vincent – someone who would have a big part to play in the next round of the Cup.

1st Round Proper

The Ravens returned to Hayes Lane for their 1st round tie and it wouldn’t be without its fair share of drama. Bromley took an early lead through Krauhaus, a great finish with his left foot from the edge of the box. The visitors responded quickly to level the scores at 1-1, and Bedfont would battle out until added time in the second half.

And it was Liam Vincent, who popped up with his second late goal of the campaign so far, who sealed the U18s place in the 2nd round with his late strike. The celebrations that followed were spectacular, but this isn’t the end of the road by any means.

2nd Round Proper

Then came one of the biggest occasions for Academy since its formation. A Wednesday night trip to Fratton Park to take on Portsmouth was the next hurdle, with the target firmly set on reaching the next round.

Despite the level of opposition, this was a game that the U18s knew they could compete in. Even going a goal down early into the first-half couldn’t dampen spirits and the young Ravens who were quick to respond.

Hero from the previous round Liam Vincent pulled the Ravens back on level terms and it was a goal that gave the team a noticeable lift.

The game was a fierce contest from then on. Portsmouth pilled on the pressure to no avail meaning the tie was there for the taking in the final few minutes.

And the Ravens did exactly that. With minutes left to go a corner was sent into the box, and lurking inside the 18-yard area was Ben Krauhaus to fire-in an effort and secure Bromley’s place in the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup.
