Following International Women’s Day on Monday 8th March, we spoke with members of Bromley Ladies FC covering the expanding Women’s pathway at Bromley Football Club.
The incredible recent success of Bromley Ladies FC was documented back in December, with the Ravens sitting top of the Greater London Women’s League Division 1. This comes at a time when the Club have continued to strengthen links between the ever-growing Girls Academy and the 1st team.
Chloe Robertson, a senior member of the team, spoke to us on their season;
“I’ve played at Bromley Ladies FC for around six to seven years now and we are currently sitting at the top of the Greater London Women’s League. We have big plans to get promoted and continue into the Premier Division of the League. Watch this space!”
Chloe then spoke on the exciting times ahead for the Women’s pathway;
“I am so pleased something like this (Women’s pathway) is being put in place. It will be great to see, and be a part of, young and ambitious girls rising through the ranks. Summer is proof that this works and she has been a great asset to the Ladies 1st team. As soon as we are allowed back playing and training we would love to continue our involvement in the pathway and build something special with the Bromley Academy.”
Summer Roberts, as mentioned above, made the step up to the 1st team this season as well as continuing her studies and training with our Academy. Summer shared her experiences on joining the team;
“I feel very lucky to be playing for the 1st team as well as the Academy. I signed for Bromley Ladies this season and I am learning so much from playing alongside the experienced players and coaches. The team have been so welcoming to me since I joined and I am really happy to be a part of it.”
Summer continued;
“The games I have been involved in have been fast paced and exciting, I’m proud to say I have contributed to the scoreline in those games. I’m looking forward to the return of training and games in order to learn more.”
The Women’s pathway at the Club continues to grow, and the recent addition of Wildcats sessions at Hayes Lane has now provided a clear route from the age of 4, right through to women over the age of 30.
