Billy Bingham to step away from full-time, professional football

Bromley Football Club can today announce that Billy Bingham has taken the decision to step away from full-time, professional football with immediate effect.

“I’d like to thank the fans for their incredible support. We’ve experienced some memorable moments in our four years together, and ones that I’ll cherish. However, with the end of my playing career just around the corner, now is the right time for a change, as I plan for the future.

“My thanks also goes to everyone at the Football Club, from Andy and the coaching staff, to each and every player I’ve worked with over the years, to everyone behind the scenes. It’s been incredible to witness, first hand, the investment and improvements made across the Club, both on and off the pitch.

“I wish everyone associated with the Club all the very best for the future.”

The 33-year-old arrived at the RELOC8 EM Community Stadium in the summer of 2019 from Gillingham and has gone on to make 141 appearances, scoring on six occasions, including a fantastic strike against Chesterfield which helped cement our place in the 2022/23 play-offs.

During Billy’s time in a Bromley shirt, he has helped us clinch FA Trophy silverware at Wembley whilst also being part of two play-off finishes, going on to be a fans’ favourite.

Starting at Crystal Palace, Bingham’s career has seen him make almost 200 EFL appearances, reaching the heights of League One football whilst also winning play-off promotion to the third tier with Dagenham & Redbridge.

We’d like to thank Billy for his contribution to the Club’s achievements in the past four years, and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
