Bromley FC Bowie Kit to launch in November

Back at the start of the season, Bromley FC asked supporters to get involved with designing our third kit. The opportunity to do so was taken up by many people from across the local area and beyond.

A shortlist of six was put to a public vote and just shy of 500 supporters made their choice. They chose Bromley supporter Marc Eade’s striking green design which pays tribute to local music legend, David Bowie.

Since then, the design has been developed and on Saturday 12th November 2022 our First Team will be wearing the kit as they take on Halifax Town at Hayes Lane and you’ll be able to get your hands on the shirt alongside a range of supplementary items available in The Jim Brown Club Shop including a bespoke hoody, keyring, mug, fridge magnet and selection of posters.

The match day will be dedicated to the global icon raised in Bromley and you can:

  • Visit the Jim Brown Club shop to purchase the third kit and other items including a fridge magnet, jumper, mug and range of posters
  • Check out the Bowie Bolt, normally displayed at Contingent Works in Bromley, which is making a visit to Hayes Lane for the day
  • Visit our small Bowie exhibition curated alongside Contingent Works
  • Pick up our Bowie dedicated match-day magazine
  • From 6pm dance the night away at The Bowie Experience perform live in Broomfields Bar and Kitchen

Bromley supporter and designer of our third kit, Marc will attend the match where a presentation will be made before kick-off providing Marc with a framed version of his winning design.

Talking about the inspiration behind the design, Marc revealed:

“I moved here about two years ago having spent time living in London beforehand. I am a huge football fan, so it’s amazing to have such a good, community football club nearby. I was hoping to get to games as soon as I could after lockdown and have enjoyed coming down to matches.”

“With anything like this, it’s a question about asking ‘What is Bromley about?”. As someone relatively new to the area I began my research and doing some homework and it was things like having Emma Raducanu more recently, HG Wells but David Bowie was the one for me that really came through.”

“The original idea was to take the Bowie thunderbolt and see how I could manipulate the shape to somehow suit a football kit. Also, I thought about Kappa themselves as they have had some of the best kits in recent years. The Venezia kit they’ve released have literally been voted the best in the world last season, so I just looked at what had been popular and thought about what people would want to wear causally and then bringing that together with what Bromley is about.”

We hope Bromley supporters, locals and Bowie supporters will join us for this special day.
