Bromley secure goalkeeper Grant Smith

Bromley Football Club can confirm the signing of goalkeeper Grant Smith following his departure from Yeovil Town.

The 29-year-old, who spent the past two seasons in the National League with the Glovers, began his career within the youth set-up at Reading and Fulham before joining Brighton & Hove Albion’s development squad.

During his time with the Seagulls, he gained his first taste of men’s football whilst on loan at Bognor Regis Town back in 2014 and would return to the club after permanent spells at Hayes & Yeading and Farnborough. It was during his second spell at Bognor Regis where he’d first make a name for himself, going on to clinch the Fans’ Player of the Year award, playing a vital role in their FA Trophy run.

Smith was then awarded with a move to the National League, spending two seasons with Boreham Wood, including the 2017-18 campaign where he’d help them finish fourth in the table, ultimately ending in the play-offs. Not only that, but he also made two England C caps during that season.

The ‘keeper then took another step up in his career as League Two side Lincoln City came calling where he’d go on to make 22 appearances for the Imps, winning the division in the process.

During his time with Lincoln, he returned to the National League on two occasions through loan spells at Maidstone United and former club Boreham Wood respectively.

Smith then left the LNER Stadium before two further tier five spells followed at Wealdstone and Chesterfield before he penned a deal with Yeovil Town in 2021.

The goalkeeper becomes our fourth summer signing after we welcomed Sam Woods, Cole Kpekawa and Josh Passley to the club.

Welcome to Hayes Lane, Grant!
