Michael Cheek surpasses 200 appearances

Michael chalked up his 200th First Team appearance in Bromley’s last home fixture, two weeks ago, in the First Round proper of the FA Cup against Football League opposition, Blackpool.

Bromley signed the proven striker at the commencement of Season 2019/20 from near-neighbours, Ebbsfleet United, where he had scored 16 goals in his one and only season at the North Kent Club.

Michael started out on his footballing career at Heybridge Swifts, before moving on to Chelmsford City where he scored 35 goals in 66 appearances in an 18 month spell; after which he moved a few miles up the road to Braintree Town. Cheek remained with the Irons for two seasons, scoring 42 goals in 98 appearances.

Dagenham & Redbridge was the next port of call, where he spent a single season in which he scored twice in the 5-1 home victory over Bromley. In 2018, he moved across the Thames to sign for Ebbsfleet United, before moving once again, this time to Bromley.

Cheek made his debut for the Ravens in the opening game of the season on 3rd August 2019 at Chorley in a 0-0 draw; and a few days later opened his account in the next fixture on his home debut against the Club he had just left.

Since arriving at BR2, our number nine has become a fans’ favourite and picked up an England ‘C’ International Cap when he was selected for the Wales v England International in March 2022.

He won the National League’s Golden Boot award when he was leading scorer in the league for season 2020-21 with 21 League goals, and he was on hand to have the honour of scoring the goal at Wembley that brought the FA Trophy back to the RELOC8 EM Community Stadium for the first time in May 2022.
