Bromley FC Celebrates International Women’s Day

Wednesday 8th March marks International Women’s Day: celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme of #EmbracingEquity, focuses on creating a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive and free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

To recognise the theme, we will be launching a series of activities as part of the Club’s ongoing work to increase female participation in football. This builds on our work first highlighted in our Women’s and Girls Strategy, that was published last Summer.

International Women’s Day activities will kick off with free football for all girls. We run a range of football sessions for all girls aged from four to 16, and for one week all these sessions are free. You can find out more about our sessions and how to book here. Quote JAL116 when booking a day pass.

On Tuesday 7th March we will be hosting the National League Trust Under 11s Girls tournament during the day, with schools across Bromley attending and playing on the stadium pitch with a place in the Regional Finals at stake.

That evening our Bromley’s FC Men’s team will take on York FC (KO 7.45pm). The game will be our dedicated Her Game Too fixture, where we will celebrate the women and girls who play at Bromley FC with a lap of honour during half time. The men’s team will also be wearing Her Game Too t-shirts during the warm up to show their support of fighting sexism in football. Be sure to catch our Matchday magazine which will be an International Women’s Day special! We will look back at the Trust’s work on Embracing Equity over the last 12 months and our plans for the next year.

On Wednesday, March 8th it is the national Let Girls Play Day, which is the Biggest EVER Football Session for school aged girls, and we will supporting local schools across Bromley to deliver football sessions to girls across the week.

On Sunday everyone is welcome to attend our Bromley FC Women’s clash with high flying Eastbourne United Association Women. The game kicks off at 3pm at Hayes Lane and you can get your free ticket here.

Following the Women’s game our recreational team, Bromley Belles will be hosting a recreational festival for around 100 women between 5 and 8pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and cheer the Belles on.

Look out on our Social Media channels across the week as we will also be showcasing the many amazing women that are involved with Bromley FC. From volunteers to coaches to players we will be sharing our experiences through the ‘Our Stories’ series.
