Pickhurst School represent Club at National League Tournament

  • Community

Pickhurst Junior Academy, located a stone’s throw away from Hayes Lane, represented Bromley Football Club at the National League U11s Cup South-East finals last Thursday in both the girls and boys tournaments.

Both sides had won the Club’s local tournament held on the Stadium Pitch back in November, progressing to this more recent competition, held at Sutton United. We popped along to present every single member of both squads with a Bromley FC bobble hat!

The teams came up against the likes of Sutton United, Woking, Slough Town, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Maidstone United, Welling United, Dartford, Dover Athletic and Dulwich Hamlet.

The Girls battled hard and were unfortunate to lose out in the semi-finals in the most heartbreaking of circumstances, on penalty kicks. The boys were also in fine form and made a blistering start to proceedings, making it into the final, where they lost out to Dulwich.

However, competition rules state that both finalists progress to the next tournament, which will see the winning side face the champions of the North tournament at Wembley Stadium in front of a playoff final crowd.

Everyone at Bromley Football Club would like to congratulate all the children who participated, as well as coach Mr Belgrave! We look forward to following the boys’ progress in the next round.
