Report: Bromley 0-0 Eastleigh

  • Men's

Bromley and Eastleigh played out a hard fought stalemate at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Spitfires arguably dominated the first half, with Reda Johnson coming the closest to breaking the deadlock, but his free header crashed off the top of the crossbar and onto the roof of the net.

Soon after, Mark Yeates weaved his way into the Bromley penalty area and into a good position, but delayed his shot for too long, and his resultant effort was blocked by Tyrone Sterling, before Sam Togwell blasted the loose ball out of the ground.

In a cagey opening 45 minutes with few clear cut opportunities, Adam Mekki shot well wide for Bromley, with Brett Williams a couple of feet away from being able to get on the end of the shot and divert the ball towards goal.

Seven minutes into the second half, a superb move from Bromley culminated in Ben Wynter producing a pinpoint cross for Louis Dennis who was lurking on the edge of the six yard box, and he rose high to direct a header into the ground, which saw the ball bounce just over.

As time drew on, the introduction of Iffy Allen had an immediate impact, with the winger’s first touch being a piece of outrageous skill, taking down a high clearance and nutmegging his man. He then surged towards goal and put the ball on a plate for former Eastleigh man Williams, who saw his shot blocked in a nick of time, resulting in a corner.

Eastleigh came close to nicking it late on, as an in swinging corner met the head of substitute Chris Zebroski, who saw his flicked effort go across goal and just wide.

Bromley’s next match is a trip to Crabble on Tuesday 8th August to face Dover Athletic in a 7:45pm kick off.
