Bromley 0-1 Tranmere Rovers

  • Men's

Bromley fell victim to a 93rd minute goal from Tranmere striker James Norwood as the visitors took all three points in what was an even game.

George Porter nearly gave Bromley the lead with 25 minutes on the clock, but hit the side netting with a close range effort at the back post, following Frankie Sutherland’s free kick delivery.

The first half was an uneventful affair, with neither goalkeeper being tested until Connor Jennings forced an excellent save from David Gregory, with the Ravens stopper’s outstretched leg denying the powerful, low effort.

The second half was a more lively affair, though only just. Louis Dennis went close early on as he skipped through challenges and produced a low shot, which was saved by Scott Davies. James Alabi then put a curling effort over the bar after gaining possession from Josh Rees, and flicked a corner just wide minutes later.

Adam Buxton was close to opening the scoring with a free kick, following Dan Johnson’s foul on James Norwood. His goalbound effort curled with great power, but Gregory was equal to it, and tipped the ball over.

On 86 minutes, Sutherland’s piledriver from 25 yards was well parried by Davies, and he then reacted instantly to block Brett Williams’ follow up. Despite the pressure coming from Bromley, it would be Rovers who would seal it at the death.

A through ball meant for Alabi made its way through to Norwood, who, on the edge of the six yard box, held off a challenge from Johnson and finished off the post.
