Bromley 1-0 Macclesfield Town

  • Men's

Louis Dennis made his first start of the season this Saturday, whilst Moses Emmanuel was only named on the bench due to a knock picked up against Gateshead the week before.

It was Macclesfield that started the sharper of the two teams and with only three minutes on the clock the away team had the first real chance of the game when the ball was crossed in to the Bromley 6-yard box, however no one was there to collect the ball but the Bromley keeper. Alan Julian was on hand once again for Bromley with a fantastic save as a corner from Macclesfield was put in to the box and where Paul Lewis was waiting in the centre of the box to head the ball into the goal only for Alan to stop him in his tracks.

With 17 minutes gone Ali Fuseini passed the ball through from midfield on to the feet of Paul Rogers who ran over half the pitch and went one on one with the keeper, the shot was deflected and only just went wide of the post.

Bromley’s next chance only came moments later when Goldberg was fouled on the edge of the box. Alex Wall too the free kick witch powered through the defence taking a defection out for a corner which then came to nothing. Alan Julian was on hand once again in the 25th minute when a corner was crossed in from the far side, when the ball was collected by Tony Diagne who turned to shoot from close range only to have his effort stopped by Julian. The ball was rebounded but Julian was able to make another incredible save. A further 7 minutes went by and Bromley had the best chance of the game to go 1 nil up. Bradley Goldberg was played in to the Macclesfield box and went around the keeper but too far passed the goal. Goldberg then passed back to Alex Wall who’s shot was put over the bar. Further chances were created by both teams towards the end of the first half but no goals were scored.

There were no changes to either team at Half Time as Macclesfield Town kicked off.

The first real chance fell to Macclesfield in the 2nd half as a corner was played in to Chris Holroyd whose right footed shot was saved off the line by Ali Fuseini.

With no clear chances from either sides Bromley made the first move with 68 minutes on the clock. Bromley made the bold move using all 3 substitutions with Moses Emmanuel, Ben May, and Reece Prestadge coming on for Alex Wall, Max Porter, and Paul Rogers.

The breakthrough then came on the 76 minute as Jack Holland’s cross was headed down by Moses Emmanuel on to the feet of Ben May who was there to slot home his first goal of the season with a right footed strike in to the far side of the goal to the delight of the home crowd.

With Bromley 1 nil up, Macclesfield continued to press looking for an equaliser, and in the last minute of additional time Kristian Dennis picked up the ball in the box turned Rob Swaine on the wrong side, shot but the ball just went wide of the post, to give them arguably their best chance of the game. Bromley held out for a 1 nil win with another clean sheet.
