Bromley 1-2 Boreham Wood

  • Men's

Bromley headed in to the match with an increased injury list. Julian, May, Joseph-Dubois, and Porter remained side-lined, with Francis, and Chorley joining the list with light knocks. Goldberg was due to start the game but unfortunately pulled up in the pre match warm up. Last of all Cook picked up his 5 yellow card at Lincoln and was therefore suspended.

The heavily depleted squad saw Brendan Kiernan make his first league start for Bromley since April 2014, whilst Lee Minshull started in defence with Jack Holland remaining upfront with Moses Emmanuel.

Boreham Wood got off to a commanding start, and just 4 minutes in to the match, Ricky Shakes hit the post and Luke Howell slotted in the rebound past Kettings.

The away side continued to gain momentum and just 7 minutes later they doubled their lead with another goal from Luke Howell, when the Bromley defence failed to cut out a through ball to the wing, which left Howell one on one with the stranded Kettings., and Howell duly slotted the ball into the net.

Bromley started to edge back in to the game later in the half with a few chances on goal, but nothing really troubling James Russell in goal, until 5 minutes before half time. A goal kick from Kettings was controlled by Moses outside the box, who then turned his defender and curled his shot inside the far post to bring Bromley back in to contention, and go into the break 1-2.

Bromley started off the second half as well as they ended the first, with Emmanuel going close twice. After this initial charge, the home side fell flat and Boreham Wood came back into the game creating several chances. The visitors finished strongly and saw the game out to take the 3 points.

Bromley now look to Saturday when we host Altrincham, which is live on BT Sport 1 12:30 kick off.
