Bromley reach National League Promotion Final

Despite going a goal down, the Ravens sealed a 3-1 victory over Altrincham to book their place in the 2023/24 National League Promotion Final, taking place at Wembley Stadium next weekend.

The first chance of the game fell Bromley’s way when the clock hit he six minute mark. Corey Whitely drilled a low shot from the edge of the box, forcing Ethan Ross into an early save.

Up the other end and it was Grant Smith’s turn to be tested when Regan Linney’s shot-on-the-turn was denied by the fingertips of the Bromley ‘keeper.

The Ravens were forced into an early change when Ben Krauhaus’ final Hayes Lane appearance was cruelly ended on 24 minutes after picking up an injury; he was replaced by Louis Dennis.

Altrincham continued to attack just past the quarter-of-an-hour mark when Justin Amaluzor slipped through a pass to Chris Conn-Clarke, but the latter saw his shot saved from a tight angle.

The visitors did take the lead on 30 minutes when Conn-Clarke’s effort was turned in from close range by Linney.

In first half stoppage time, substitute Dennis let fly from the edge of the area, forcing Ross into a diving fingertip save.

Five minutes into the second half and the Ravens grabbed an equaliser when a Jude Arthurs corner was met by the thumping header of Myles Weston.

The game was completely turned on its head moments later when a long Idris Odutayo throw-in was nodded in by Jude Arthurs.

However, the goal of the game was scored by the man who bagged our equaliser. Weston, first time, curled a delightful effort into the top left corner as Hayes Lane exploded.

Michael Cheek saw an effort saved by Ethan Ross before Altrincham pushed for a goal back and came close when a free-kick inside the box, following a back-pass, bounced off the bar.

The Ravens held on though to book their place at Wembley!
