Cray Wanderers 3-4 Bromley

  • Men's

Cray Wanderers hosted a Bromley XI on Saturday, with 600 fans welcomed into Hayes Lane on the day.

The match got off to a quick start and Bromley were soon ahead. Ollie Tanner, who would go on to have an impressive afternoon, split the defence and set up Trialist B for 1-0.

After setting up the first goal Tanner got his name on the scores sheet after 20 minutes. A solo effort, beating the Cray defence before powering through a strike past Carey in the Wanderer’s goal.

It was 3-0 just nine minutes later as Michael Cheek looked to one-up Tanner from the previous goal. He ran past the Cray backline before chipping the ball into the net.

Just 30 seconds later Cray Wanderers scored their first of the day. Joe Taylor, who was a presence up front for Cray all afternoon, calmly finished past Najia to bring the hosts back into the match.

Freddie Parker brought the home side within one goal of the Ravens. He broke through on the right, beating his man and fired the ball into the top corner from close range.

Trialist B continued to impress during the match and he scored his second goal 10 minutes into the second half. Jame Alabi had broken through and crossed into the box. Michael Cheek had an initial effort saved by Lewis Carey, but the trialist was on hand to score Bromley’s fourth of the game.

Cray would make the final half hour of the game interesting, with Bradley Pritchard scoring to make the score 4-3.

And that’s how the match would end. An entertaining afternoon, but more importantly fans were able to watch Bromley once again at Hayes Lane. Neil Smith shares his thoughts below. Highlights from the game to follow soon.
