Cup triumph for our U16’s on Sunday

It proved to be a fantastic weekend for our Bromley Youth U16 Boys who won their Kent FA Cup final, winning 3-2 on penalties against Dover Athletic.

The Ravens had to do it the hard way though, coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 before the shoot-out.

It was a goalless first half before Dover’s Leighton netted a brace early in the second half and looked to put it out of Bromley’s reach.

However, the Ravens showed their quality and netted two goals in the final 20 minutes to take it to penalties before eventually winning the final.

It proved to be the perfect sign-off for manager Hugh Gray who calls time on 30 years of youth-team management.

Bromley’s MJ, who will be joining League One Lincoln City in the summer, won a penalty before tucking the spot-kick away to reduce to deficit to one goal.

Kassim then levelled proceedings, eventually taking the clash to penalties.

Leighton nearly completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time though, had it not been for some excellent Bromley goalkeeping.

A huge well done to everyone involved on the day as we now look ahead to Thursday when our U15’s hope to clinch their second piece of silverware of the season, coming up against Ebbsfleet in the League Cup final.

The final will take place at Chatham Town FC, kicking off at 7.45pm with entry priced at £5 for adults with children and concessions priced at £1.
