Match preview: Boreham Wood vs Bromley

The Ravens travel to Meadow Park on Saturday afternoon to take on Boreham Wood.

The Opposition 

Boreham Wood sit 10th in the National League on 59 points from 37 matches.

The Wood have won none of their previous five matches, picking up one point in a draw against Dagenham and Redbridge and losing to Wealdstone, Dover, Aldershot and Woking.

Their top scorers are Tyrone Marsh and Scott Boden, who each have picked up 12 goals in all competitions during this campaign.

The Hertfordshire outfit made it to the FA Cup fifth round this season, beating Barnet, Eastleigh, St Albans City, AFC Wimbledon and Bournemouth before a 2-0 loss to Everton in the last 16 stage of the competition.

Boreham Wood were promoted to the National League after winning the National League South play-offs in 2015. They beat Whitehawk 2-1 in the final to secure promotion to the fifth tier. In six seasons in the National League, Luke Garrard’s men have finished 19th, 11th, 4th, 20th, 5th and 14th.

The Opposition Manager

Luke Garrard was appointed by Boreham Wood on the 14th of October 2015, following the resignation of former manager Ian Allinson.

In 329 games in charge, Garrard has won 119, drawn 105 and lost 105.

He has guided his side to two play-off finishes in the National League, once in the 2017/18 season, where they lost 2-1 in the final to Tranmere Rovers, and again in the 2019/20 season, where they lost in the semi-final to Harrogate Town.

During his playing career, the 36-year-old former midfielder/defender played for Swindon Town, Bishop Stortford, Boreham Wood, Northwood and AFC Wimbledon.

The Previous Meeting

Bromley last took on Boreham Wood on 11th September at Hayes Lane, where the visitors ran out 3-2 winners.

Bromley levelled twice through Billy Bingham and Michael Cheek, but goals from Scott Boden, Josh Rees and a last minute strike from Tyrone Marsh secured three points for the Wood.

Familiar Faces

Adrian Clifton featured 25 times for Bromley during the 19/20 campaign.

Frankie Raymond played for Bromley across four seasons, from 17/18 to 20/21, making 150 appearances and scoring on nine occasions.

Josh Rees played for the Ravens in two different spells, joining in 2017 and scoring 20 goals in his debut season for Bromley in 48 appearances, before a move to Gillingham. Rees returned in 2019, making 30 appearances and scoring four goals.

Dennon Lewis featured four times for Bromley in 2019 before joining Wealdstone.
