Match preview: Bromley vs Chorley

  • Men's

Bromley look to make a return to winning ways on Saturday, as we welcome Chorley to the Westminster Waste Stadium.

Last Time Out:

The points were shared in our last match as Neil Smith’s side drew 1-1 away at title chasers Harrogate Town in front of the BT Sport cameras. Jack Diamond netted on 47 minutes for the hosts before Alex Bradley turned the ball into his own net late on to gift the Ravens a point.

As for Chorley, they suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Chesterfield at the weekend. Tom Denton and Jordan Cropper gave the Spireites a two-goal cushion before Connor Hall pulled one back for the hosts.

A Look At The Opposition:

This season marks Chorley’s first in the fifth tier in 30 years after clinching promotion from National League North last campaign.

The Magpies had to do it the hard way though, beating Spennymoor in a play-off final penalty shoot-out.

With avoiding relegation the target this time around, Chorley find themselves bottom, 17 points behind survival.

The Magpies, who have only won four times this season, have bagged 31 goals whilst conceding on 65 occasions too.

As for their away form, Chorley have only tasted victory on the road once, beating Chesterfield 3-2 at the Proact Stadium back in November.

The Magpies go into Saturday’s game having lost their last five league games and will be hoping to clinch their first win of 2020 this weekend.

Who’s In Charge?

Jamie Vermiglio took the reins at Chorley in June 2018 and he couldn’t have wished for a better first season in the dug-out as he guided his side to National League North play-off glory.

It wasn’t the first time he made a name for himself at Victory Park having represented the Magpies in three separate spells as a player, making over 200 appearances.

Alongside Chorley, Vermiglio also played for Scarborough, Telford United and Northwich Victoria.

Before taking charge in 2018, he also took up the roles of coach and assistant manager respectively.

Last Meeting:

The Ravens drew 0-0 with Chorley back in August in our last meeting which also marked the opening day of the season.
