Match preview: Bromley vs Sutton United

  • Men's

The Ravens are back in action this weekend as we play host to Sutton United on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out:

Goals from Davis Keillor-Dunn and Jordan Ponticelli sealed all three points for Wrexham when they travelled to Hayes Lane in our last fixture.

However, Sutton managed to secure a point last time out as they drew 2-2 with high-flyers Barrow at the weekend despite falling two goals behind.

A Look At The Opposition:

Sutton currently find themselves 16th and like Bromley, haven’t won in their last five league games which means they sit 20th in the form table.

The U’s, who clinched a 10th place finish last season, also have 43 goals to their name whilst conceding 40.

Since securing promotion to the fifth tier in 2016, Sutton have been eyeing more glory as they aim to reach the Football League for the first time in their history.

Before finishing just outside the play-offs last time around, they secured 3rd spot in their second season back in the top-flight of non-league football.

However, with promotion proving to be a distant dream this season, the focus for the remainder of the campaign will be to avoid falling into the relegation scrap.

Who’s In Charge?

After initially taking up the head coach role, Matt Gray took charge of Sutton at the end of last season following the departure of Paul Doswell.

Before arriving at Gander Green Lane, Gray was the assistant manager at Eastleigh, Aldershot Town and Crawley Town respectively.

The Sutton boss also represented Cardiff City, Hayes and Havant & Waterlooville in a playing career which started at Tottenham Hotspur.

Last Meeting:

It was the Ravens who took maximum points in our last meeting with the U’s back in November, winning 2-0 at Gander Green Lane thanks to goals from Ben Williamson and Michael Cheek.

Former Ravens:

Striker Omar Bugiel initially joined the Ravens on loan for the second half of the 2017-18 season but penned a permanent contract ahead of last campaign. However, he left the club for Sutton last summer and has gone on to bag six goals in 25 appearances for the U’s.

Goalkeeper coach Seb Brown is also a former Raven, signing in 2014 from Wimbledon before leaving the following year for Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Former U’s:

Billy Bingham spent a short period on loan at Sutton from Dagenham & Redbridge back in 2009.
