Match preview: Bromley vs York City

Bromley take on York City at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon in the FA Trophy semi-final.

The Opposition 

York sit sixth in the National League South, on 51 points from 32 matches.

They have won two out of their last five matches in all competitions, picking up five points in the league with a win over Leamington and two draws against Southport and Curzon Ashton, and progressing in the FA Trophy with a win on penalties against Dagenham and Redbridge.

The Minstermen’s top scorer is Clayton Donaldson, who has nine goals in all competitions.

The Opposition Manager

The York manager is John Askey who was initially appointed on a temporary basis as part of the coaching team in November 2021, before getting the permanent role as manager.

In 24 games in charge, Askey has won 13, drawn six and lost five.

Previously, he has managed Macclesfield Town, Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale. With Macclesfield, Askey oversaw promotion to League Two, after winning the National League in 2018. 

The Previous Meeting

Bromley last took on York City on 4th April 2017, running out 2-0 winners at Bootham Crescent.

Goals from Louis Dennis and Tobi Sho-Silva sealed the win for the Ravens.
