Match preview: Maidenhead United (H)

The Ravens will face Maidenhead United at Hayes Lane this afternoon on Matchday 37 of the National League season.

The Opposition 

Maidenhead United sit 16th in the National League on 45 points from 39 matches. 

They have won two of their previous five matches, beating Weymouth and Dover, drawing to Wealdstone and losing to Solihull and Barnet.

Their top scorer is Josh Kelly, the forward has scored 17 goals in all competitions.

The Magpies were promoted to the National League in the 16/17 season after winning the National League South on 98 points. The following season, their first in the National League, saw them finish 12th. They have remained in the league ever since, with 19th, 21st and 13th placed finishes.

The Opposition Manager

The Maidenhead manager is Alan Devonshire who has been at the club since the 5th May 2015. He managed the Berkshire side to promotion in the 16/17 season from the National League South to the National League as title winners.

He also managed the Magpies from 1996-2003 after managerial stints at Osterley and Brentford Women. 

Devonshire went on to manage Hampton and Richmond Borough from 2003-2011 and Braintree Town from 2011-2015 before returning to York Road.

During his playing career, he played as a midfielder for Southall, West Ham and Watford. He played over 350 games for Hammers, scoring 29 times whilst helping them win the FA Cup in 1980. Devonshire was also capped by the England National Team eight times.

Previous Meeting

Bromley last took on Maidenhead on 28th December at York Road, with the Magpies coming out 1-0 winners.

A second half Nathan Blissett header was the difference between the sides.

Familiar Face

Maidenhead forward Shawn McCoulsky played for Bromley on loan during the 19/20 season, making four league appearances and scoring once, the winner in a 2-1 home win against Notts County on his debut.
