Match preview: Wealdstone vs Bromley

Bromley take on Wealdstone on Saturday afternoon in the Vanarama National League at Grosvenor Vale.

The Opposition 

Wealdstone sit 16th in the National League on 38 points from 33 matches.

The Stones have won two of their last five matches, picking up seven points in the league with a win away at Maidenhead, a win at home to Weymouth and a draw at home to Torquay.

Their top scorer is Joshua Umerah, the 23-year-old forward has picked up ten goals during this campaign.

The North London side were promoted to the National League after finishing top of the National League South in 2019/20. In their first full season back in the National League, they finished 19th.

The Opposition Manager

The Wealdstone manager is Stuart Maynard, who was appointed on 3rd February, 2021.

He has guided the North London side to 16th place at this point of the National League season.

Maynard has managed 57 competitive fixtures with the Stones, achieving 14 wins. 

The Previous Meetings

Bromley last took on Wealdstone on 4th December 2021 at Hayes Lane, which the Ravens won 3-2.

An early Josh Umerah strike gave the visitors the lead after nine minutes.

Two goals in four minutes for the Ravens turned the game on its head, the first was a venomous George Alexander goal in the 25th minute, and the second was a fantastic long range strike from Marcus Sablier, the young midfielder’s second goal of the season.

Wealdstone ‘keeper George Wickens was sent off in the 56th minute after a clash of heads with Alexander.

The ten-man Stones levelled in the 72nd minute, through defender Jack Cook.

Following a disallowed goal from Alexander, the Ravens weren’t to be denied the win, as captain Byron Webster scored in the 90th minute to gain all three points.
