Match preview: Weymouth vs Bromley

Bromley travel to the Bob Lucas Stadium this evening to take on Weymouth.

The Opposition 

Weymouth sit 21st in the National League, on 21 points from 28 matches.

The Terras have picked up five points from their last five league matches, beating Eastleigh 1-0 and drawing to Chesterfield and Yeovil.

Their top scorer is Josh McQuoid, who has scored five goals in the National League, including the winner in Weymouth’s last match, the 1-0 home win against Eastleigh.

The Dorset outfit were promoted to the National League in 2020 following victory in the National League South play-offs, where they beat Dartford on penalties in the final. In their first full season in the fifth tier following promotion, they finished 18th.

The Opposition Manager

David Oldfield was appointed by Weymouth on 18th January 2022, with the side sitting in 21st.

In seven games in charge in the National League, Oldfield has won one match, drawing three and losing three.

Previously, he has managed Brackley Town, Oxford City and has been the interim manager at Oxford United and Peterborough United. With Oxford City, he took them to 4th in the National League South during the 2020/21 campaign before the season was curtailed.

The Last Meeting

Bromley last took on Weymouth on 5th October 2021 at Hayes Lane, with the score ending 3-0 to the Ravens.

The first goal was a back-post Michael Cheek volley in the 14th minute following a cross from Corey Whitely.

The second was an outside of the box Chris Bush strike in first half added time.

The victory was rounded off by James Alabi as Michael Cheek squared the ball to the 27-year-old striker to make it 3-0.
