Match report: Bromley 1-1 Aldershot

  • Men's

It was honours even at Hayes Lane as Bromley drew to Aldershot 1-1.

Bromley commenced the game the more positive of the two teams. In the 10th minute, following a Chris Bush throw-in, the ball landed to James Alabi inside the opposition’s penalty area. After taking the ball past his marker, he forced a great save from Ethan Ross.

A few minutes later, the ball was played to Sinclair Armstrong, with only the keeper to beat, Ellery Balcombe came racing off his line and cleared the ball away. Great composure from the goalkeeper. After a spell of possession for the Ravens, Luke Coulson’s corner was met by Chris Bush who headed wide. The Ravens gained belief from their opportunities, with Billy Bingham shooting from 30 yards forcing a fingertip save from Ross.

As the half was coming to an end, Sinclair was once again causing issues for the Ravens, and shot wide from an acute angle as he got down Bromley’s left side.

In the second half, Lewis Kinsella got down the left and produced an inch perfect cross which Armstrong mistimed his movement to connect with the delivery.

Then the biggest opportunity for Bromley to take the lead. After a quick succession of passes from Partington and Coulson, the latter found James Vennings, who only had the keeper to beat from close range and skied his effort over the bar.

In the 67th minute, Mohammed Sylla fired an effort from distance but Balcombe saved with ease.

Then the moment the hosts had been dreading. Mikael Ndjoli was found in between the Bromley defenders and placed his effort to the keeper’s left side.

As the game was coming to an end, Coulson delivered another suburb ball into the box from a free-kick and Webster placed his header into the bottom corner to equalise.
