Preview: Ravens vs Magpies

  • Men's

This weekend sees the visit of Maidenhead United to Hayes Lane for the second of this season’s Vanarama National League fixtures with the Magpies, kick-off 3pm.

Earlier in the season Bromley travelled to York Road and snatched a 2-2 draw, when Chris Bush levelled deep into injury time, after Reeco Hackett-Fairchild had scored a wonder strike to halve the deficit earlier on in the half.

Since the turn of the Century, the Berkshire Club have visited Hayes Lane on twelve occasions, in which they have had rather better of the exchange winning six and drawing two of the fixtures.  Their last victory was on 24 October 2017 when they won 3-2.

As may have been mentioned before, this fixture represents the oldest fixture still played in Bromley’s calendar, as the two Club’s first met in Season 1894-95 when both Clubs were members of the Southern League Division 2.

Since then, the two sides have met a total of 51 occasions in various Cup and League fixtures, with Bromley recording 26 victories to Maidenhead’s 17, with the remaining 8 fixtures finishing on level terms.

Last season’s home fixture became a victim of the curtailment of the season and was not played due to Covid-19.

Maidenhead are currently lying in 9th place in the League table with 31 points from their 19 games completed. Last Saturday their home game against Weymouth was postponed due to a frozen pitch, whilst on Tuesday they drew 0-0 with Stockport County also at home.
