On Tuesday we temporarily leave League football behind to embark on this season’s FA Trophy competition and, in doing so, welcome to Hayes Lane all connected with Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club, for a 3rd round tie.

Our visitors entered the competition at the 2nd Round stage, and on Saturday afternoon in the delayed tie at Tolworth, they overcame Corinthian Casuals 4-2 on penalties, after the scores had remained goal less after ninety minutes.

Hemel Hempstead play in the Vanarama National League South Division, and currently have 16 points from their 13 games played so far to occupy 10th place in the League table.

It was in this division that our two Clubs last met at Vauxhall Road on 14 March 2015, in our away league fixture where the game ended in a 1-1 draw, Jamie Slabber Bromley’s goalscorer. Hemel Hempstead recorded a single goal victory at Hayes Lane on 11 November 2014 in the first ever League meeting between the two sides.

The London Senior Cup had paired the two sides together in 1975, and again Hemel Hempstead were victorious by a single goal here at Hayes Lane on 6 December, for the very first meeting between the two Clubs.

Our visitors have faired better on the road than they have at home, as the only point secured so far is a 1-1 draw against Dulwich Hamlet. Having lost all their other five homes games, including the latest 0-1 defeat against Hungerford Town.

Whilst away victories have come at Braintree Town, Bath City, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Tonbridge Angels and Havant & Waterlooville.

In the FA Cup they won away at Dunstable Town, before losing at home (again) to Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Prize money of £4,500 is available to the winners, whilst the defeated side will receive £1,250.  A result must be decided on the day.

The winner of this tie will host Woking in the 4th Round.
