Ravens clinch point at Boreham Wood

Olufela Olomola netted his third goal in a Bromley shirt as the Ravens drew 1-1 away at Boreham Wood.

The opening chance of the game fell to the visitors as Lewis Leigh slipped through Michael Cheek whose deflected shot went just wide of the post.

The first opportunity for the home side came on eleven minutes when Erico Sousa and Tyrone Marsh played a one-two down the right before the former cut the ball back for captain Jack Payne, who shot low and hard towards the far corner but Grant Smith produced a smart save.

A second chance for home side came on the counterattack when ex Bromley man Chris Bush switched the play to Angelo Balanta who drove into the Bromley half and set Tyrone Marsh. However, he was also denied by Smith.

Just shy of the 20 minute-mark Bromley took the lead. Leigh floated a corner towards the back post which met the head of Chin Okoli. His header fell perfectly for Olomola who calmly slotted from close range.

Moments after the goal, Smith produced a reaction save from Marsh’s header. The rebound was blocked, but it fell perfectly to Payne who fired his shot just over the crossbar.

Billy Sass-Davies then played a through-ball to Lee Ndlovu who shot under Smith, but the ball flashed across the face of goal but there was no one there to tap home.

Five minutes before half-time the Boreham Wood centre back Jamal Fyfield flew into a challenge with Josh Passley inside the Bromley penalty area, in which the latter cleared the danger. Fyfield received his marching orders for the challenge, being shown a straight red.

The first chance of the second half went Bromley’s way as they nearly clinched a second. A ricochet fell to Cheek who played in first half substitute Sam Woods who saw his shot cleared off the line superbly by the sliding Sass-Davies.

Bes Topalloj played a ball down the left to Todd Miller, who also came on as a sub. The Bromley wide-man drove past Sousa and his deflected cross fell perfectly to Passley who sliced his half-volley wide.

With ten minutes to go, the home side levelled. Chris bush won a header on the halfway line and Ndlovu was afforded space by the Bromley defence. The Boreham Wood attacker played it wide to Sousa who looped an effort over Smith.

With 83 minutes on the clock, Passley set Corey whitely down the right and the latter flashed a low cross towards the back post, but Cheek couldn’t quite convert.

Ndlovu should have put the home side in front late on before Matt Robinson delivered a cross which evaded Smith, and fell perfectly for Femi Ilesanmi who could have headed in, but his effort flashed across the goal-mouth.

After an end-to-end second half, neither side could find the winning goal.
