Ravens clinch win at Altrincham

Bromley clinched back-to-back wins after beating Altrincham 2-1 away from home on Saturday.

The Ravens started off on the front-foot and almost took the lead early on, both from a Bed Topalloj free-kick which hit the wall before a Sam Woods header from a Ben krauhaus corner forced another block.

The goal did come quickly after though as Corey Whitely expertly bent an effort into the top right corner from the edge of the box to net his first of the season.

Bromley were on search for goal number two and almost had it in the bag in unusual circumstances after a Whitely cross was met by Sam Roscoe who flicked the ball onto his own face which narrowly rolled past the post.

Up the other end and Altrincham found themselves an equaliser when Justin Amaluzor latched onto a short corner to net the hosts level.

Since the goal, Alty were on the front-foot. Chris Conn-Clarke caused issues and almost turned the game on its head, twisting and turning before forcing Grant Smith into a save.

The Bromley ‘keeper was called into action a couple more times before the break. Firstly, denying a long range strike by Elliot Osborne before preventing Amaluzor from adding to his tally.

Within the four minutes of additional time at the end of the first 45, Dior Angus struck wide from close range as Altrincham ended the half on top.

In a second half which saw Louis Dennis come off with an injury, goalkeeper Smith was called into action a few more times, starting on the 49th minute to deny Angus.

The Altrincham forward continued to pose a threat and almost raced through on goal had it not been for a crucial Byron Webster challenge.

Bes Topalloj drilled a shot wide on 69 minutes before Smith produced more excellent goalkeeping towards the latter stages of the game.

Todd Miller was one of three arrivals from the bench and he went on to bag his first for the club on 87 minutes, slotting past Ethan Ross before celebrating in front of the 76 travelling Ravens.

Smith saved a Conn-Clarke free-kick nine minutes into eight minutes of added time before making the save of the day a minute later as we held on to secure the win.
