Ravens snatch dramatic draw at York

Bromley came away with a point in dramatic fashion as they travelled to York City on Saturday, drawing 2-2.

The Ravens got off to the better of starts with debutants Ryan Jones and Olufela Olomola posing an attacking threat, but it was Chin Okoli who produced the first strike at goal. However, his effort blazed over the bar.

It would be the hosts who took the lead though when Dipo Akinyemi was played through on goal and although it looked offside, he was able to slot past Grant Smith to put York ahead.

Lewis Leigh, who returned from his suspension, had a good first half, but his free-kick from the edge of the box was tipped over by the York ‘keeper as the hosts went into the break a goal to the good.

The Bromley number four was in the thick of it again after the restart as he delivered a free-kick into the box which eventually found Callum Reynolds who saw his volley saved before it came back out to Olomola who couldn’t quite convert the header.

Bromley’s newest signing floated in a fantastic cross towards Josh Passley who saw his header fly over before the Ravens did clinch their equaliser. Debutants Olomola and Jones were heavily involved again before the ball was fizzed across goal to Michael Cheek who poked home the leveller.

Corey Whitely nearly turned the game on its head when he charged forward and let fly from range, almost netting one of the goals of the season, but his shot was just about kept out.

Up the other end and dangerman Lenell John-Lewis nodded the hosts back in front before the Ravens snatched a late equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Passley floated a ball into the box which flew all the way into the back of the York net. Olomola may have got a touch on it, but the Bromley number seven claimed it.

The Ravens held on in the dying moments to see out the point.
