Bromley travelled to the EBB Stadium on Saturday to face struggling Aldershot Town. Neil Smith was without Frankie Sutherland, Jack Holland, Max Huxter and Alan Dunne on the afternoon but was able to welcome back Adam Mekki and Kyle De Silva to the squad.

And that list of unavailable players grew early on in the match as Roger Johnson became injured after making a clearance in the defence third. Adebayo-Rowling was introduced into the team with Marc-Anthony Okoye switching to central defence.

Bromley looked lively in the opening encounters but it was the home side who threatened the goal first. The ball was sent the far post and Scott Rendell beat the newly introduced Adebayo-Rowling to the ball and headed onto the post. That signaled a wake-up call for the Ravens, a call that they duly failed to take on board as the home side took the lead on 17 minutes. The ball was once again sent to the far post, this time from the left hand-side, and Rendell made an easy header to open the scoring on the afternoon.

That goal kicked Bromley into life and the Ravens went close twice in very quick succession. First, George Porter struck wide after a quick counter attack. That was followed up by some lacklustre defending from the hosts, which presented the ball to Ogedi-Uzokwe. He squared for Goddard, but the attacking-midfielder’s shot was blocked just yards out from goal.

Bromley would then have an effort cleared off the line. A testing cross was sent in by Frankie Raymond, Goodman then headed back across goal but the defender on the far post was well placed to clear the danger and protect the Shots’ one goal advantage.

On the half-hour mark the Ravens did eventually draw level. Adebayo-Rowling broke forward and sent in a cross that tested Legg in the Aldershot goal. The goalkeeper pushed the ball onto the crossbar, which then fell kindly for Ogedi-Uzokwe to tap in for the equaliser. And before the half was done, the away side took the lead. A long throw was sent into the box by George Porter, Aldershot failed to clear and the ball eventually found the back of the net thanks to a George Fowler own-goal.

The half-time interval served the home side well. They came out looking much sharper and almost levelled the match just moments into the second half. Berkeley-Agyepong found himself one-on-one with David Gregory, but the Crystal Palace loanee couldn’t get the better of the Bromley shot-stopper as he struck straight into his clutches.

Dan Holman was introduced to the game on the hour mark, and it took him only six minutes to get his name on the scoresheet. A slip from Marc-Anthony Okoye gifted Holman the chance to run at goal, and he curled an effort in from 20-yards to level the scores at the EBB Stadium.

Bromley failed to fully recover from that set-back, and Aldershot took the game by the scruff of the neck. Their persistence eventually paid off as they scored the winner three minutes from time. James Rowe teed up a free-kick just on the edge of the area, and he whipped the ball into the same corner Holman had struck into earlier on in the half.

Six additional minutes were added on at the end of the match, and that gave time for Bromley to create a final chance. Mekki crossed into the box from the left, Ogedi-Uzokwe rose to meet it but George Legg was equal to the effort to tip over the crossbar.
