Bromley made the trip North on a cold Tuesday evening to face an in-form Altrincham side at the J. Davidson Stadium, looking to make it four games unbeaten.

In a blistering start to proceedings on a bitterly cold evening, it was Bromley who came out the blocks fastest, and would take an early lead. Quick thinking from Reeco Hackett-Fairchild saw him work his way into the box and cut the ball back for James Alabi, who stroked the ball home from close range.

Bromley then had a chance to make it two, just six minutes later. The ball dropped kindly for Joe Kizzi in a crowded box, and although he struck a well timed volley, he would see his effort blocked and deflect wide for a corner.

Then came a big chance for the hosts to level the scores. Fisayo Adarabioyo latched onto a long ball over the top and advanced towards Mark Cousins, but when it seemed certain he would score, he scooped his effort over the crossbar.

There was time for another chance for Bromley, however, as the half hour mark approached. Michael Cheek received the ball and turned towards goal, before curling a low shot from the edge of the box. Tony Thompson could only parry it into the path of Hackett-Fairchild, but under pressure from two challenges, he prodded wide.

In the second half, Bromley continued to dominate in the early stages, but it was the hosts, against the run of play, who had the first chance. Adarabioyo was in the thick of it again as he burst into the box and looked to slide the ball beyond Cousins, but the Bromley ‘keeper was equal to it, making a smart save.

Six minutes later, Bromley would have a goal disallowed for offside in odd circumstances. Excellent work from Hackett-Fairchild yet again saw him find Billy Bingham in space on the edge of the box, and he curled home a crisp effort. Celebrations were underway when the linesman called the referee over to the touchline, and the goal was disallowed, with suspicions of a Bromley player standing in an offside position as the shot was taken.

The Ravens’ task was made even more difficult on 68 minutes, as Ben Williamson was shown a straight red card for a lunging challenge on Billy Sass-Davies, making for a very different final 22 minutes.

The Ravens still continued to attack though, and Hackett-Fairchild might have added to the scoreline and settled some nerves, but Thompson bravely slid in at his feet to deny him a second goal in as many games.

Altrincham proceeded to throw the proverbial kitchen sink at Bromley as time went on, and despite plenty of crosses into the box and long standing pressure, they failed to truly test Cousins.

As six minutes of injury time was signalled, Matty Kosylo was shown a straight red card, meaning the two sides ended the game with ten men apiece.

Despite the momentum swinging in the hosts’ favour, Bromley managed to hold out for the remaining moments and secured another win on the road, and a deserved clean sheet.
