Bromley left it late at the H2T Group stadium on Saturday but still saw off the challenge of Solihull Moors.

In a first half which didn’t see many attempts on goal, both sides cancelled each other out in the middle of the park, not really allowing the ball to be fed through to the strikers enough. For Bromley, Brett Williams had two shots which cleared the crossbar, and Frankie Raymond having a shot deflected wide.

For the Moors, Wes McDonald caused problems for Bromley at the back, and David Gregory made a good save to deny him just three minutes before half time.

The second half was a more physical affair, and Bromley were frustrated in their attempts to break through a resolute and physical Solihull defence. McDonald again tested Gregory early on, with the Bromley stopper getting down at his near post to make a good save. However, Nathan Vaughan at the other end was to thank for Solihull minutes later, as he made a superb reaction save to stop his own defender from slicing Luke Wanadio’s cross into his own net. Vaughan then dived low to his right to deny a Frankie Sutherland piledriver, as Bromley began to apply more pressure.

Yet, as some began to think it may not be Bromley’s day, two substitutes in Iffy Allen and George Porter combined to make sure the three points stayed at the H2T Group stadium. Allen drove at the Moors’ defence and played an inch perfect pass through to Porter, who finished past Vaughan from an angle, sending the Bromley fans into raptures with just four minutes left on the clock.

The two combined with a nearly identical move in additional time, however, this time, Porter’s side footed finish was inches wide of the post. Despite some late pressure from the visitors, the Ravens held firm for their second win on the bounce and a welcome clean sheet.
