Bromley could not bury the demons from the recent away loss to Barrow and fell to a 2-1 defeat against visitors Barnet. The Ravens started the game in positive fashion, with Luke Coulson pulling the strings from midfield, Bromley striker, Michael Cheek, saw his powerful shot well saved by Barnet goalkeeper, Scott Loach. Bromley kept attacking and Loach was instantly called into action again-when a fantastic effort from Josh Rees was saved by the the Bees’ keeper.
New signing, Corey Whitely, linked up well with Joe Kizzi and delivered some testing passes into the opposition box-one of which, Ben Williamson nearly took advantage of, if it weren’t for the on rushing Loach. Barnet had their fair share of possession, with Barnet defender, Cheye Alexander forcing a great save from Ryan Huddart. However, against the run of play, Josh Walker, skilfully ran past the Bromley back line and calmly slotted home for the visitors. Despite going behind, Bromley were not going to be fazed. As the half was coming to an end, an emphatic volley by Josh Rees nestled into the net after a great cross by Corey Whitely and good hold up play by Williamson. No one could argue that the equaliser was thoroughly deserved.
The momentum was with Bromley when the second half commenced. Kizzi’s deflected shot from a corner nearly gave Bromley the lead- much to the agony of the passionate home support. Barnet regained the lead once again after Dan Sweeney found in form striker, Simeon Akinola, who finished with ease. It was the striker’s 14th goal of the season.
After a spell of possession by the visitors, it was Rees who came the closest to equalising, with the midfielder dragging his shot just wide of the post after a cross by Williamson. The Bromley forward nearly dragged the Ravens back into the game, when he got on the end of Kizzi’s cross for only Loach to once again continue to deny Bromley. Despite promising play in the first half, Bromley could not find that crucial equaliser. It was a day to forget for the Ravens who hope to bounce back against Halifax next weekend.
