Report: Bromley 1-2 Barrow

  • Men's

The boys in white looked to bounce back and return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they faced an inform Barrow side who are knocking on the door of the play off places. Bromley gave a debut to goalkeeper Ryan Huddart, who 5 years previous was on the bench for an Arsenal side at home to Dortmund in the Champions League.

The opening 10 minutes of the game showed the away side had started the better of the two teams. They looked comfortable on the ball and created 1 or 2 half chances, but neither troubled Ryan Huddart in the Bromley goal.

Good football from the away side once again as they created another half chance on Bromley’s goal. Josh Kay was in acres of space and delivered a low cross into the 18-yard box, but Michael Cheek was back helping to get rid of the danger.

After the home side had worked their way into the game, Barrow had a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the penalty area. However, John Rooney’s curling effort struck the side netting, to Bromley’s relief.

With ten minutes to go before half time the visitors took the lead. Intricate passing in the final third and a threaded through ball found the feet of striker Dior Angus, who was able to slot the ball in off the far post.

Another dangerous free kick in a similar position for Barrow’s Rooney but he couldn’t keep his shot down.

First chance of the game for the home side as Sam Wood delivered a brilliant ball on to the head of Cheek but his header came back off the underside of the crossbar. Barrow were able to clear but the ball was diverted to Coulson, who again swung in a cross, this time on to the head of Adrian Clifton but he wasn’t able to direct his header goal wards. A better start to the half this time round from the Ravens.

A second goal for Barrow as they doubled their lead in the 53rdminute. Coulson looks for the foul on Angus but nothing doing. The Barrow goal scorer is able to drive to the by line and put in a low cross for strike partner Scott Quigley who slid in at the far post for his 8thof the season.

Bromley thought they had got themselves back in to the game but the referee awarded a free kick for a foul on the Barrow goalkeeper as the ball was about to be bundled home.

The Ravens switched the ball from side to side, substitute Michael Klass held up the ball and played in other substitute Adam Mekki, his low drive across the box was tapped home from six yards by Cheek and Bromley were back in the game.

A game in which the away side controlled possession and the home side didn’t really get going. Bromley are unable to get back to winning ways and suffer their second defeat on the trot, whilst Barrow win their 6thgame on the spin and climb up into the play off places.
