Bromley hosted Yeovil Town for a second time this season, and fell to a 1-2 defeat at Hayes Lane.

The visitors started the more positive of the two teams, with Yeovil defender, Daniel Leadbitter, whipping in a dangerous cross, which the Bromley defence cleared from Yeovil striker, Rhys Murphy. The visitors’ attacking intent paid off minutes later. Matthew Warburton’s corner caused havoc in the Bromley box and Murphy was there to convert at the front post to give the visitors the lead.

With over 25 minutes played, Warburton forced a fantastic save from Mark Cousins. The Glovers midfielder took a free kick which deceived the entire Bromley defence from 25 yards, only for Cousins to get down and make a smart save. Joe Kizzi then produced a sumptuous cross for Michael Cheek – with the striker placing his header wide of the goal.

As the first half was coming to an end, the victors doubled their lead. Yeovil captain, Carl Dickinson, delivered a dangerous free kick which was met by Yeovil striker, Joe Quigley – the striker rose the highest and placed his powerful header to Cousins’s left side, despite the Bromley goalkeeper getting a hand on the effort. A disappointing half for The Ravens. 

The second half commenced and Bromley had the first important opportunity. Luke Coulson intercepted a fantastic through ball from Jack Holland, the midfielder then crossed into the box, but neither Cheek or Reeeco Hackett Fairchild could score, with the latter failing to hit the target. 

Kory Roberts then found substitute, Ben Williamson, with a precise pass. The forward turned his marker but could only fire wide from inside the oppositions box. All the pressure was to eventually pay off for Bromley. Hackett-Fairchild’s fantastic cross found Cheek at the back post, the striker headed in the delivery across goal and into the bottom corner, and gave Bromley hope. Despite further pressure for Bromley, the hosts could not equalise. A frustrating evening for Bromley.
