Report: Bromley 4-0 Ebbsfleet United

  • Men's

Bromley produced a convincing display by defeating Ebbsfleet United 4-0.

The game commenced in a physical style, with Billy Bingham requiring treatment early on from a heavy challenge. Luke Coulson’s corner then found Jude Arthurs, who’s shot was blocked by the Ebbsfleet defence.

The first real chance fell to the visitors. A corner found Chris Solly at the back post, his effort saw Mark Cousins get down well to prevent Ebbsfleet from scoring.

A Bromley counter attack then led to Michael Cheek producing a clever pass on to the onrushing Trialist inside the opposition’s penalty area. The Trialist placed his effort into the keeper’s right side to give Bromley the lead.

Minutes later, Bromley doubled their lead. Trialist persevered and managed to keep the ball in and cross to Michael Cheek, the striker, with defenders all around him, could not finish, with the ball eventually falling to Jude Arthurs who finished with ease.

Lee Martin was causing many problems for the Bromley defence, with successive shots being well saved by Cousins who was determined to keep a clean sheet.

In the second half, Ebbsfleet started off just how they finished the first half, with Rakish Bingham forcing another good save from Cousins.

Then a moment of real magic in the game. Trialist produced a mesmerising cross to Michael Cheek. The striker was through on goal and rounded Chris Haigh to score Bromley’s third.

A mistake from the Trialist defender allowed Michael West with an opportunity to score for the visitors, the midfielder’s flicked effort came off the post, much to the relief of the Bromley defence.

In the latter stages of the match, Marcus Sablier took advantage of a mistake from the opposition to score. It was the midfielder’s second goal in pre-season for Bromley.

Bromley will look to build on their win by welcoming Arsenal U23s to Hayes Lane in midweek.
