Report: Dartford 3-1 Bromley

  • Men's

In the final week of preparations for the start to the league campaign, Bromley fell to their first defeat of pre-season.

Bromley’s first chance of the game came from a free-kick which was taken by Mark Cousins. He booted the ball over the Dartford midfield, allowing a flick-on from George Porter, directing the ball into the path of Korrey Henry which allowed him to pull the trigger. His shot didn’t trouble the Dartford’s Mark Smith.

Bromley’s second chance came a few minutes later after a corner which Dartford failed to clear. The ball got as far out as Frankie Raymond, who was on the edge of the box when the ball fell to him. He went for goal with power, but his effort fizzed over the crossbar.

The first goal of the game came from Jack Holland, who took advantage of a Bromley corner which Dartford once again struggled to clear. The ball was sent across the face of goal and fell to Jack Holland at the back post, and he had just enough time to aim and shoot, finding the bottom corner.

Dartford’s first chance that posed a threat to the Ravens came from a counter-attack following a Bromley corner. A range of long passes created space for the Darts, with the ball eventually falling to former Bromley player Luke Wanadio. He passed the ball back to the edge of the box, allowing a shot, which sailed wide of the post. The equalizer came moments later from a corner, thanks to a header from Jordan Wynter at the back post, leaving Mark Cousins with no chance.

The Half time whistle was signalled before the 45 minute mark, unfortunately due to an injury to a Dartford player.

Dartford looked sharper at the start of the second half, and their persistence paid off when they took the lead. A corner was not cleared by Bromley, with the ball breaking to Cameron Broadie 25 yards from goal. He had a shot from outside the box, and half-volleyed the ball into the top corner, with what was an amazing goal.

On the 70 minute mark, Dartford made it three. Andy Pugh got onto the end of a low cross and struck it home from six yards, with a tidy, firs time finish. With 3 minutes left on the clock, Bromley were unlucky not to pull one back, when a Raymond corner came in and was flicked on by several players, then finally coming to Holland in mid-air. He had the direction, but he was unable to put enough power into the hooked effort to put it past the goalkeeper, with his effort cleared off the line.
