Bromley fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the Shay Stadium on Saturday afternoon, after an eventful game.

Bromley were limited to very few chances in the first half after the home side had played some slick attacking football, with the Ravens’ only chance of note coming from Adam Mekki’s low shot, forcing Sam Johnson into a diving save to parry the ball out for a corner.

Tom Denton and Matty Kosylo caused problems for the Bromley back line, with the latter producing several good crosses for the former, from which he was unable to connect. Matty Brown came closest for Town, but his effort from a corner was superbly kept out by David Gregory, despite claims from Halifax that the ball had crossed the line.

Three minutes before half time, Scott Garner received his marching orders after allegedly fouling Brett Williams when jumping for a header, the referee very quick and decisive in his showing of the red card.

However, it would be the home side who took the lead after the break. In the 55th minute, Kosylo’s persistence paid off, as his low cross after a good run squirmed into the net, with deflections off Jack Holland and David Gregory diverting the cross in.

The immediate introduction of George Porter changed the game, and six minutes later, he robbed Cliff Moyo of the ball in the left back position, and ran through on goal, finishing expertly past Johnson.

Just as Bromley were on top, they were hit by something of a sucker punch in the 69th minute, as Kosylo got the better of Ben Wynter and produced a floated cross for Denton to head into the net with ease.

As time drew on, Williams fired over for Bromley with a first time effort from a corner and with one of the last kicks of the game, Porter was denied by Johnson, who made a point blanc range save to deny the substitute his second goal and Bromley a last gasp equaliser.
