Report: Forest Green Rovers 1-0 Bromley

  • Men's

Bromley travelled to Forest Green Rovers with their opponents third in the National League before kickoff, with only Dagenham and Redbridge and Lincoln City above them in the table.

In a cagey first half, Rovers sent a few shots wide of Alan Julian’s goal, before Elliott Frear forced a good save from the Bromley stopper. At the other end, a snapshot from Bradley Goldberg stung the palms of Sam Russell, who tipped the ball over the crossbar.

Not long after, Dave Martin had a long range, swerving shot well held by Russell.

In the second half, Bromley made an impression early on, as Blair Turgott’s floated free kick hit the post, before a combination of Rob Swaine and Tobi Sho-Silva hit the other post with the follow up, the latter then adjudged to have been offside.

After saving Liam Noble’s low free kick, Julian again proved his worth after producing a brilliant save to deny Rhys Murphy in a one on one situation.

However, after 74 minutes, the home side took the lead through Keanu Marsh-Brown. The winger was given too much space, and after a deep cross was delivered into the box, the unmarked Marsh-Brown slid a low strike into the net.

In added time, Jack Holland came close to levelling things up, but his volleyed effort from the edge of the penalty area clipped the top of the crossbar and bounced out of play for a goal kick.
