Report & Reaction: Halifax Town vs Bromley

Halifax almost broke the dead-lock with less than a minute on the clock as a ball was floated in from the right and Millenic Alli’s downward header at the back-post forced Reice Charles-Cook into a save.

Moments later and the Bromley stopper was called into action again, this time to deny Matt Warburton who struck from just inside the box.

He wasn’t to be denied at the second attempt though as he headed Halifax in front on 19 minutes.

Warburton continued to cause havoc and almost made it two just past the half-hour mark, his shot from range trickling against the post.

Halifax continued to attack, but Bromley saw penalty appeals waved away before half-time as Harry Forster looked to be brought down in the box.

It was the Ravens who started the second half on the front foot as Michael Cheek blasted a close range effort over the bar after a brilliant ball in by Ryan Stirk.

Just shy of the hour mark and it was a similar situation for Jude Arthurs after a Stirk corner eventually fell to the number 20 who struck over.

Cheek did have the ball in the net on 68 minutes, only to be denied by the linesman’s flag. However, he did get his goal soon after when Stirk’s free-kick was bundled across the face of goal and the striker was there to smash home.

Warburton saw a deflected strike cause issues for Charles-Cook before Cheek also looked to add to his tally, heading over a Charley Kendall cross.

Both sides continued their attacking threat, but it ended a goal and a point apiece.

Next up, the visit of Chesterfield on Saturday.
