Report & Reaction: Yeovil Town 0-1 Bromley

The Ravens returned to winning ways at the weekend after beating Yeovil Town 1-0 at Huish Park, courtesy of an early Bes Topalloj winner.

The Ravens got off to the best possible start as Corey Whitely and Kellen Fisher linked up to keep the ball in the danger zone before the latter floated a delightful ball into the back-post before eventually finding Bes Topalloj. The full-back blasted home the opener from just inside the box to make it two in two against the Glovers this season.

One almost became two on 10 minutes as Louis Dennis pounced on a misplaced pass before feeding it through to Michael Cheek who took it past a couple of defenders before striking goal-wards, forcing a save out of Grant Smith. The resulting corner was headed into the gloves of the Yeovil ‘keeper again, this time denying Deji Elerewe.

Up the other end and new signing Callum Harriott almost netted on debut, letting rip from distance with a deflection making it hard for Reice Charles-Cook, but the Bromley ‘keeper did well to make the save and keep the scores at 0-1.

Just past the half-hour mark and Jude Arthurs looped a ball over the top to Dennis who touched it down before striking just over the bar.

A first half full of Bromley chances with the hosts also posing an attacking threat too.

More chances fell to both sides in the second period, starting with Charlie Cooper who bent an effort round the post early in the second half.

Moments later, Cheek almost buried a second before his header just past the hour mark deflected wide.

The number nine was in the thick of it again after latching onto a Billy Bingham challenge before sliding it through to Dennis who blasted over from the edge of the box.

Whitely tried his luck from range, looping a dipping effort just over the bar before Ryan Stirk’s free-kick found Whitely but his shot from a tight angle was well saved.

Alex Fisher headed a Cooper free-kick wide late on before Dennis cut inside after brilliantly touching the ball down before his low effort fizzed past the post.

The Ravens, who should have added more to their tally, held on to clinch a vital three points.
