Bromley fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Solihull Moors on Non-league Day.

Bromley started well and had the first chance of the game two minutes in when a cross met the head of Michael Cheek, but he was unable to put enough power on the ball and it was gratefully received by Ryan Boot in goal. Cheek came close a few minutes later, this time from a corner, where he lashed an effort goalwards, but somehow Callum Howe cleared the ball off the line with a brave header.

Solihull’s first chance of the game nearly resulted in a goal. After a mazy run, Jamey Osbourne took a low driven shot at goal, which struck the post and fell back into the direction of Jamie Reckord, who struck a first-time effort, but Joe Kizzi made an impressive on the line block to deny The Moors. Osborne had another chance ten minutes later from a free kick, but Ryan Huddart was able to make a great save and tipped the ball over the goal.

The Moors took the lead 5 minutes before the break and against the run of play after Gavin Gunning unleashed a low driven shot from the edge of the area, which took a heavy deflection and crept into the bottom corner. The Ravens were the dominant side in the first half with the Solihull defence denying the Lilywhites on numerous occasions.

Osborne had the first chance for either side in the second half, and it was again from a free kick, testing Huddart, however he was on hand again and made a superb save to deny The Moors from Doubling their lead. However, the home side did double their lead minutes later, after a superb initial reaction save by Huddart wasn’t enough, as the rebound fell straight to Danny Wright who bundled over the line.

After getting the ball into the box a number of times but failing to test Boot, the next chance of note came five minutes from time. Josh Rees shot from range and Boot couldn’t handle it, eventually spilling it wide for a corner. The Ravens came close from the corner, when Adam Mekki’s cross was met by Jack Holland who directed the ball over the bar by a fraction. A consolation came deep into four minutes of additional time, when the ball was crossed to the back post, where Alfie Doughty reacted quickly to poke a shot home.

The Ravens goal proved to only be a consolation with so little time left, meaning Solihull claimed the points.
