Report: Welling United 0-5 Bromley

  • Men's

Neil Smith and his Bromley side travelled to Park View Road on Saturday to take on Welling United.

It was Bromley who had the first real chance of the game. A fantastic cross from Joe Anderson was met by an unmarked George Porter in the box but his attempt at goal flew harmlessly over the bar.

Porter went close moments later when he managed to find space on the edge of the box before directing a curling right foot effort at goal which looped just over the bar.

Former Bromley man Danny Waldren had the first attempt at goal from the home side, hitting a powerful effort at goal from outside the box which had to be parried by Julian before Holland was on hand to clear the danger.

Turgott gave Bromley the lead right on the stroke of half time. A cross from Martin eventually fell to Turgott’s feet who managed to hit a great strike into the bottom corner past the keeper.

Cunnington extended the lead for Bromley at the start of the second half. The forward won a freekick just inside the Welling half before Porter played an early ball down the line to Turgott who squared the ball across to Cunnington who hit a powerful curling effort into the bottom corner of the goal.

Jack Holland then made it three for the Ravens with a close range header following a brilliantly flighted freekick from Martin.

Neil Smith made numerous substitutions in the second half but even with the changes Bromley continued to dominate and it was one of the subsitutes who increased the Ravens lead even further, Bradley Goldberg with a great left foot strike across the keeper and into the bottom corner of the goal.

Blair Turgott completed the scoring for Bromley and made it 5-0 in the dying minutes when he slotted home from the penalty spot having been brought down moments earlier.
