Saturday: Forest Green Rovers v Bromley

  • Men's

As part of our ‘Away Day Guide’ feature for the official website Bromley supporter Will Bains provides us with a fans insight to our trip Forest Green Rovers this coming Saturday, 17th September.

Saturday sees us travel to the Cotswolds and a ground famed for its environmental friendliness and lack of meat on the menu.

For those travelling by train and with some time to spare, you’ll probably want to spend your time in Stroud rather than Swindon (unless the Museum of Computing particularly takes your fancy). Stroud contains such gems as the Saturday farmers’ market, which has been awarded national Farmers’ Market of the Year in both 2007 and 2013.

Pub options are numerous and varied depending on where you wish to stop. In Nailsworth, the Britannia has a decent outside area, or there is the George Inn on New Market Road for something closer to the ground. The Village Inn is the home of the Nailsworth Brewery and should also be worth a visit.

For anyone driving, I recommend a bit of a detour via Bourton-on-the-Water, a picturesque Cotswold town that has a great array of pubs by the riverside. It’s also very close to the home of the Cotswold Brewing Company, whose beers are well worth taking home with you.

Stadium Address

The New Lawn, Another Way, Nailsworth GL6 0FG (To find using a sat nav please use the postcode GL6 0ET)

Directions

By car: Take the M4 away from London and exit at junction 15. Follow the A419 towards Cirencester, then once you get here, follow the same road towards Stroud. Continue for six miles out of Cirencester, and take the first turning at the roundabout towards Minchinhampton. After three miles, take a left turn towards Nailsworth, pass straight through the town, up Spring Hill and then the ground is on the left further along. Parking is available at the school next to the ground if the club’s car park is full.

By train: The nearest station is Stroud, although this is still a considerable distance from the ground. Great Western Railway operates an hourly service to Stroud from Paddington, with a change at Swindon. From Stroud, half hourly bus service 63 will take you to the ground via Nailsworth, or it is about a five mile journey in a taxi.

The following details have been provided to us direct from Forest Green Rovers

For this game Forest Green Rovers will be opening the North Stand (standing) for away supporters, which can hold up to 744 supporters. For those supporters that prefer to sit or could struggle to stand for the whole game, there are ONLY 40 seats available to purchase – please note that you will be located in a segregated Block of our Main Stand, which is adjacent to the North Stand.

Seating tickets are strictly limited and are expected to sell out: as such if you would like or need a seat for this game, please buy your ticket in advance. Once these tickets are sold out, there will be no more available.

All away supporters (standing and seating) will gain access to the stadium via the North Stand turnstiles (7&8) and will be using the North Stand facilities (catering, toilets). This means that any away supporters with a seating ticket, will need to walk back into the North stand to use the facilities.

We have a limited number of wheelchair accessible seating in our main East stand and limited numbers of disabled parking for both home and away supporters. These are only booked over the phone via the FGR Reception (01453 834 860). Please note that these are sold out for most games, so we recommend all supporters book in advance to avoid disappointment.

How to Buy Your Tickets

We recommend supporters purchase their tickets in advance, for convenience and to save money too. Tickets can be downloaded to your smart phone, be posted out to you or simply collected on the day from our Ticket Office (right in front of the stadium as you arrive). Tickets will be available to purchase on the day but to save time, to avoid the queues and to save money, we recommend that all supporters purchase their tickets in advance by:

  • Via the FGR website by clicking here>
  • Over the Phone: via Reception (01453 834 860), from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Parking

There are over 450 parking spaces available onsite at £4 (cash only), with very limited parking in the local area. It gets very busy on Matchday’s, so we would recommend supporters to travel down in plenty of time. For any supporters that choose to park in the local residential area, we would request you please park with consideration for our neighbours and adhere to local parking enforcement.
