Something of a quieter month was in waiting for Bromley, with just five games lined up in December, albeit including the Christmas and New Year period which had fixtures packed in tightly.

Things commenced with a journey North to the Proact Stadium, where Chesterfield lie in wait. In truth, the Ravens were far from their best for large parts of the game, and Mike Fondop put the hosts in front early on. However, a header from Ben Williamson midway through the second half gave Bromley confidence and was followed by an own goal, ensuring it was Bromley who took the three points.

Next up was a trip into the unknown, as Bromley faced Dorking Wanderers in the FA Trophy. It was very much an afternoon to forget, as an injury stricken Bromley side were convincingly beaten by Dorking, who ran out 3-0 winners.

Back to the league it was, and a second match against Eastleigh of the season. Despite going ahead through Michael Cheek, Bromley would go on to suffer back to back defeats for just the second time in the season so far, with Andre Coker’s debut strike being little more than a consolation as Bromley were defeated 3-2.

Two defeats in a row would become three on Boxing Day, with a trip to Dover Athletic where many wondered if and how the game would be played in such poor conditions, with the pitch cutting up during the warm up, leading to something of a mud bath for 90 minutes. That said, the hosts dealt with the conditions the better, and scored three times without response.

This made the clash with Dagenham & Redbridge at Hayes Lane all the more important, and the Ravens more than delivered. An opener from former Dagger Cheek had the Ravens in front at the break, and was added to by second half goals from Luke Coulson and Josh Rees as the Ravens sealed a convincing victory to end December, and indeed 2019.

December also saw Bromley Football Club host the National League U11s Cup Regional Tournaments; one for mixed teams and one for Girls’ teams. This saw schools from around the Borough pitted up against each other for a chance to represent Bromley FC in the South East finals. Read up on what happened by clicking here.
