Smith moves to sign Huddart

Manager Neil Smith has moved quickly to secure the signing of goalkeeper Ryan Huddart from Boreham Wood on a permanent deal, following the injury to Mark Cousins at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

The 6’6″ stopper arrives at Hayes Lane not only with National League experience, but Champions League pedigree too! Having represented Charlton Athletic from the age of 9-14, he made the move to Premier League giants Arsenal. Huddart impressed in the UEFA Youth League for the North London side during the 2015/16 season, and then progressed through to the U23s, followed by the First Team. In this time, Huddart was named on the bench in multiple Champions League fixtures, the pick of which was against Borussia Dortmund. After enjoying a loan spell with Eastleigh, he made the move to Meadow Park.

The England C man featured in both of the Wood’s victories over Bromley last season, and was joined by former Ravens goalkeeper David Gregory at the Wood in the Summer.

Huddart commented; “I’m really pleased to get the deal done. The news on Mark was unfortunate and I wish him a speedy recovery. I’ve loved my first day here and it’s been great meeting everyone. Training was intense, but it shows why the team are where they are, being top of the league isn’t a fluke.”

Huddart will wear the number 23 shirt for the Club.

The Club hopes to be in a position to provide an update on the condition of Mark Cousins in the coming days.
